End of year SST

 Economy 

Is the state of a country or region in the terms of the production and consumption of goods and services and the supply of money.

It is a careful management of available resources and offering good value for money.

Trade 

This is the action of buying and selling goods and services.

Trade is known as exchanging something for something else or to give and receive.

Trading doesn't only benefit you but it benefits the other person you are trading with.

An example of trade would have to be 

Globalisation

the process by which businesses or other organisation develop international influence or start operating on an international scale.

In term 4 we studied a NZ Export product, the product in which I chose to research about was alcohol and the NZ company I studied was Liquorland. I found out how much the shipping costs were from one country to another, the retail price for the products in different countries and Japan has the most expensive alcohol in the world. To date there are 300+ Liquorland stores in NZ. 

9T Engilish

 My reflection on everything I have learned this year in english.

About me: this was the first thing we did in English this year. Wee had to write about ourselves talking about our siblings, hobbies and more. We also had to talk about who we admire and of course I wrote about my mum and dad. 

Speeches: this year we had to write a speech. This speech had to be 2 minutes but a lot of us had ones that went over and under the time limit which was fine. We had three topics to chose from school/community problem, someone we admire and determination crates success and I went with someone i admire which was my papa Tk Brown .

Reading responses: it is now term 2 and we have moved on to reading responses we did a novel study, the book we did it about was see ya Simon. Simon a boy who is unable to do things normal human beings can do. That is a little brief of who Simon is. We also did a comic response, we picked one comic and wrote about it, like the main characters and things like that. Our final response was a short story which I don't remember much about.

Film study: In term 3 we had to learn about films and the different ways directors film/shot there shots in movies. We also had to learn why they use that specific shot and how the director wanted the audience to see them as. After learning about all these shots we watched a movie and had to answer these questions about the movie like: what shots did they use, what the director wanted us to see and how the shot works.

Creative writing: term 4 brought the last task of 9T English, creative writing. This term we have been learning about what verbs, adjectives and all those things .We wrote creative sentences using verbs and adjectives etc, and whaea Annette had to look and make sure we had all the right things. 

Extra: throughout the year we did different small warm ups such as word brick. For word brick we had to pick one word from a bunch of words and write the definition and a sentence using that specific word. Another little activity we did was SSR ( Silent sustained reading. ) This is were we read short little story's and answer the questions. We finally finished those SSR's today.

That is everything I have learnt and done in 9T english 2021.

NZ Export Product

Introduction?

Ko te kaupapa o taku pohi ( blog )  ko Nz Export Product, this Nz Product thing explains and knows where our products have come from and also how much they are actually worth . For example 

What were you required to do in this project?

In this project we were required to make a slide , do some research , answer questions , track where our products come from using google maps  and also how much it was , 

Tell us about the NZ exported product you choose to research?

For our NZ Export product we choses to do alcohol , why ? purely because it is a well known product around the world and also around NZ , another reason why we chose this product is because it is easy to research about and also cause everybody love it 

Conclusion?

This project was really interesting and knowledgeable . In conclusion, overall I very much enjoyed and learnt a lot of interesting and knowledgeable things. Like researching products and knowing where they are sold from and how much they can be worth from 2018 to 2021. 

Jungle scene writing

 One busy morning on a nice tragic day, when i wanted to run away and be free, i came upon a pleasing jungle with native trees and beautiful stairs along the way. I rusted ford as i could feel my hair swing throw the wind. The stairs felt like a bumpy snake. It had  this green ferns and dangling Pisces of vines. It was peaceful and quite, beside the little insects and birds chirping around. It was a tragic time, that i had to leave in the middle of such a nice moment.

Signs of migration within my whanau

 Kia ora today i will be blogging about migration within my whanau / family. In this I have done my tupuna from my dad’s side and also my mum's side .This migration within my whanau/ family is about knowing your tupuna more and also finding where they migrated from .oh and also just remembering memories with them.What have I learnt ? I have learnt that my tupuna are all from New Zealand and are all maori , but one of my papa’s is  also half croatian from his dad’s side I think , I'm not quite sure if it's from his dad side  cause i'm actually not sure what line it comes down .Something else I have learnt like this topic is moving to another country and how not everyone's the same . This research project I have done supports my learning because while we learn about about our tupuna , we also got to find out where our tupuna migrated from . Overall I think this was a really good topic to do because not only we did it for our work but we also did so we could get to know our tupuna better and where they were from and what .culture they are .

Balaclava story

 In English we were working on the Balaclava story. The story was about this boy that really wanted to be in the balaclava gang, a balaclava is a ski hat or a hat.Some of the things that was interesting was when he was forcing him self to steal a balaclava, I was shocked. He was so desperate to have one and wanted to be in the gang, and since he wasn't in the gang his friends started ignoring him.

After he stole it and heard that someone's balaclava was missing he started felling guilty. After that his mum bought him his own balaclava, so he felt even more guilty and started regretting what he did.

 After that i created a work art and put in some of the key words that i found in the story.

Own push, pull and Intervening Obstacles

 Kia ora my name is Kailah and We are learning about push pull factors and intervening obstacles.Describing a story using, push and pull factors and intervening obstacles.We have learnt that push and pull factors are the same but have different meanings either it's happy, sad or something that prevents things from happening.I have learnt that doing this exercise is helpful towards our learning and an easier way to explain what the story is about.It has changed because we always used to do the basics but now using push, pull factors it's easy to work with and gives more detail.Is that it's not basic but is more explainable to work with.It helps with the details and has more expresses to it.

SEE YA SIMON

For the past weeks we have been working on a scene from the book see ya Simon and we had to animate by using scratch , I did a scene where he went to go play soccer. Here is a scene I recreated in the book see ya Simon. To play it press the green flag then press the space bar when it say " Over here"  

Week 5

In Social Studies we have been learning about migration, what migration means and we have also been doing migration within our whanau. This migration within my whanau helps with my learning because I get to learn more about my family and our history. I also get to learn things I’ve never known before.

What is the game about ?

This Refugee Simulation Game is about surviving, getting kicked out of your house and country , and also making fast decisions.

How did it make you feel ?

It made me feel sad , why ? because during this lesson I found out that there are actually some people that go through this situation .

what did I learn ?

I learnt that people go through this situations on a daily basis and sometimes you have to move fast  

 

Waitangi what really happened

Last term we were working on a series that is called What really happened , what really happened was  7 videos long , we had to watch all the videos and  answer all the questions.Something I think was positive about this what really happened series was that we learnt a lot of facts about the treaty .I liked when Hone Heke was first to sign but did it so he could act like a real OG rangatira. He made the move that everyone else was hesitant about, but he shrugged it off.It truly made me understand the value and worth of our Mauri as Maori. It made me see the insight of it all; behind the scenes if I may. Finally one question i would like to leave you to answer is , who was first person to sign the treaty.

About me

Kia ora my name is Kailah , I go to Bay of Island college,I came from Kawakawa Primary , I am full Maori but am not that fluent.  I like being active and playing sports , my favourite classes are ENG,CYB,FTY,SST, I have 2 siblings my parents are Sandi and Tainui. I am a neutral learner. I like to work independently but sometimes I like to work in groups too. Things I’m good at are MAO, SST,FTY,making people laugh , working with other people,completing my work in the time given,talking , sometimes sport, and really good at talking. Something I enjoy is hanging out with my friends and just having fun. To be honest, I don’t have any personal achievements or goals. I am a person that lives in the moment and tries to enjoy life wherever it may be.

Weekly 4

 This week we have been doing weekly 4 it used to be called weekly 3 but its changed because instead of doing three activity's we do four. We have been doing this last term and this term. The thing I enjoy about this mahi is prototec because its fun and I learn different things on it like square roots and decimals. The part I dislike is getting them wrong because I want to get them all right. The easy part is the easy questions because I get them. The hard part are the hard questions because I cant seem to understand them. The thing I will do is ask for my e-ako account so I can do that. Here is my weekly four from this week.

Lineage

For the past 2 weeks we have doing our lineage or as some people say family tree. Family tree or lineage is when you go through all your generation to where ever you want to stop I did from me to my great grandparents. My class and I had got given homework to find all of our generations names. anyway here is my work that I have do from me to Great grandparents, do forget to comment . First week of school

This week was our first week back at school this week has been chill but it was all so hectic because Monday we had a powhiri and we had to do some work. Tuesday we had kapa haka for te rou pou manawa then once again we had to do some more work just saying my favourite pices of work we had done was our rongoa maori . Wednesday we had to practice our extention mihi ,do our handwriting  , te reo maori and also our art ,and more . Thurday I had been asked to help the photolife people to get the class one at a time so they can take there class photos and so some other people in their class can take their single or their sibling photos then once all the photos were all done I went back to class then we had kapa haka and then kapa haka again for Te Rou Pou Manawa O Kawakawa  . Friday, Friday was a chill day we just had to finish some of our work and then we played a few games of tapuwae after lunch. THE END . Tuhimahorahora

On Monday we had to do a free writing about a photo or about our holiday and I had chosen my holiday , in the holiday I had to go work for my papa and then we went to Auckland oanyways i'll let you go and read my story, dont forget to levea a comment. NICE BLOGGING WITH YOU :) :) :) :)

In the holidays I went to my papas nursery and helped him for a week then I got paid and went down to Auckland with my friend’s and family and had so much fun. We woke up at 5:30am and left at 6:00 am to head down. Then we stopped at McDonald’s to have breakfast, when we got to Auckland we went to this amazing and fun place called clip n climb. Clip n climb is a place where it is filled with a lot of different rock walls . Most of them had buttons right at the top and I touched about 4 or 5 , it was fun but it was also sore because your hands would get sore. After that fun and amazing place we went to  it was time to go to another place called game over game over is a place that has go kart,laser tag,mini putt putt and also a mini time zone . First my family and friends and I played a game of putt putt then we played some games in the mini time zone and then played laser tag and rid the go karts. After that little bit of a long day we went shopping at the mall when we went to the mall I bought a Starbucks drink and some Krispy Kreme and then went to our hotel.

Rongoa making and packaging making

For the past few weeks my class and I have been making rongoa like Kumarahou wairakau, Kumarahou honey ginger and termiric wairakau , Kumarahou honey and ginger wairakau , Tupakihi panipani and also Kawakawa panipani . It was so so fun and interesting to make them I was in three groups which are  Kawakawa panipani , Tupakihi panipani  and Normal Kumarahou. Well we were making them we had to document it like record our selfs and take photos and we also had to make a packaging for the two panipani's we use. Anyways here are my two packagings I had to do for the Tupakihi and Kawakawa panipani. Oh and sorry I did not menchen this but not the whole class choese to do the Tupakihi panipani so only some of the class did anyways .
